In the past month, 300 people have had their homes
demolished by Israel in Masafer Yatta in the West Bank.
In the last month alone, three villages in Masafer Yatta have faced brutal
demolitions by Israel, leaving around 300 people homeless and destroying homes, livestock shelters, water infrastructure, and solar power installations.
On August 4, Israeli forces
bulldozed parts of Shaab al Butum school and placed the whole school under demolition orders. Like in Gaza, Israel systematically targets vital infrastructure to make everyday life increasingly impossible, forcing civilians to flee the area permanently— this is ethnic cleansing.
Israeli forces and state-backed ‘settlers’ have killed more than
80 Palestinians in the West Bank so far this year, according to the UN, including
18 children. There have been over
1,600 settler attacks resulting in Palestinian casualties or property damage in the same time frame. Since the start of the year, he said, Israeli authorities have approved or advanced over
12,360 illegal housing units.
A lawyer working with locals and activists defending Masafer Yatta has told the community that Israel intends to demolish the remaining structures in Jinba, an area within Masafer Yatta, next week unless they are stopped by the court.
A message from Masafer Yatta: “We, as residents and activists from Masafer Yatta, are calling on journalists, diplomats, human rights defenders, activists, and everyone who can help to come to Masafer Yatta and stand with our communities.”
The demolition must be stopped. The ethnic cleansing of the West Bank must end.
I call on you to:
- Impose full, comprehensive sanctions on Israel – not solely settlements.
- Enforce a complete two-way trade embargo, ending all import and export activity.
- Immediately end all arms sales and intelligence cooperation.
- Ensure unimpeded access for aid and humanitarian organisations across Palestine.
- Demand an end to the illegal occupation.
