Israel has expanded its illegal military occupation of Gaza to 59% of the strip, exceeding the boundary it set at the start of the ceasefire (itself an unrecognised military line with no basis in international law), which had already restricted civilian access to 53% of Gaza. Israel enforces this invisible line by killing any man, woman, or child who crosses it. Through control of borders, food, water, energy, and movement, Israel has control across the entire territory.
Since the so-called ceasefire began, at least 837 Palestinians have been killed and 2,381 injured by Israel, with continued bombing, civilian shootings, and aid restrictions reported.
Under the ceasefire terms, Israel was required to allow 600 aid trucks per day into Gaza. Daily averages have remained just over 200, with Israel prioritising goods from Israeli commercial merchants selling nutrient-deficient products such as chocolate, fizzy drinks, and pre-packaged junk food, while desperately needed medical equipment remains blocked.
Every day, Palestinians in Gaza are still being killed, displaced, starved, and denied medical care, while Israel is given political cover to continue its genocide under the pretence of a ‘ceasefire’.
Without urgent international intervention, Israel will continue to ethnically cleanse more land in Gaza. Israel has made clear not only that it does not abide by the terms of any ceasefire it signs, but that its long-term goal is the expansion of the apartheid state through the removal and erasure of Palestinians from their land.
