In the early hours of 24 July, armed settlers entered an ‘off-limits’ area in the village of Tal without IDF permission. Palestinian farmers defended their land, including disarming an illegal settler threatening them, and in response, occupation forces shot and killed four Palestinians and critically injured three others.
Two Israeli military personnel were also killed, setting off escalating settler attacks across the West Bank.
To defend the illegal settlers and the presence of the IDF in the West Bank, the Israeli government released statementsinciting violence against Palestinians, calling the incident on Friday a ‘terrorist attack’ by Palestinians, despite the clash being pre-mediated by armed settlers. Palestinian farmers, rightfully and legally under international law, defended themselves against them.
To incite further violence, ICC-wanted war criminal Netanyahu ordered the construction of more illegal settlements, a clear violation of international law. Four new illegal outposts near the scene of Friday’s attack have been constructed so far.
Hundreds of settlers escalated attacks across Palestinian communities, setting fire to two mosques, cars, homes and agricultural land, while attacking Palestinian families. Soldiers raided villages, entered homes illegally, closed down streets and abducted more than 70 Palestinians, and questioned hundreds more.
The attacks have continued into a third day of heightened state violence against Palestinians, with at least 30 attacks reported so far.
